Choosing Love
This year, I made a commitment to embody love in every aspect of my life. Interestingly enough, it has taken over ten months for me to notice the subtle ways it shifted my way of being. “While [I] cannot undo what is done, [I] can see it, understand it, learn from it, and change. So that every new moment is spent not in regret, guilt, fear, or anger, but in wisdom, understanding, and LOVE.”
Embodying this has made it easier for me to say sorry because I no longer interpret saying sorry as a sign of imperfection. It is an acknowledgment of my humanity and an opportunity to deepen the intimacy that exists in a relationship.
It allowed me to accept others as they are while challenging them to be in a relationship with me in a way that helps me feel loved and treasured.
It allowed me to redefine my relationship with a loved one I lost in 2021 and keep him alive and with me always.
It enabled me to grow bigger than my grief.
It allowed me to choose love even as I sat in pain.
It allowed me to choose love for those who cause me pain.
It allowed me to be brave and keep my heart open, knowing heartbreak is inevitable.
It deepened my faith and increased my ability to dream!
It strengthened my trust in humanity and opened my eyes to the beauty of life.
It enables me to sit in situations with painful solutions and infuse them with love.
It encourages me to sit in dialogue with others and choose nonviolent solutions with the understanding that they are not painless; they cause the least harm in systems perpetuating oppressive methods.
“... So that every new moment is spent not in regret, guilt, fear, or anger, but in wisdom, understanding, and LOVE.”
How can you choose LOVE today?
